Womankind

Womankind works with survivors of gender-based violence to rise above trauma and build a path to
healing. We bring critical resources and deep cultural competency to help Asian communities find
refuge, recovery and renewal.

The College Campus Liaison/Intern will assist in supporting agency efforts to build and maintain both formal and informal relationships with college campuses in New York City, especially those with significant Asian student populations. They will reach out to staff, counseling centers, and student affinity groups. in order to support current or future work related to addressing sexual violence on campuses. This is done with intention through collaborative meetings to assess the needs of students and campuses, discuss partnerships, and learn about campus events. The College Campus Liaison will also attend events related to campus work, assist in developing and facilitating presentations/trainings, and conduct related research in helping to expand Womankind’s sexual violence services program.

The College Campus Liaison/Intern will gain skills related to public speaking, networking and
researching. They will also gain professional mentorship and network with other professionals. At the
end of the position, they will be able to provide presentations and trainings to community members on
sexual violence, intimate partner violence and upstander interventions. There will be various
opportunities to network with other professionals and receive trainings.

Description

Womankind brings critical resources and deep cultural competency to help survivors of all ages find refuge, recovery, and renewal from domestic violence, human trafficking, and sexual violence. Through our programs, we offer a wide variety of services in 18+ Asian languages and dialects, including: a toll-free 24/7 multilingual helpline, safe and confidential emergency housing, culturally-informed counseling, family law and immigration legal assistance, wellness activities, creative arts therapy, support groups, and economic empowerment workshops. We are an expert in serving Asian communities, yet our services are valuable and available to all. Whether in our services or in our increasing advocacy and policy work, Womankind first centers the survivor by uplifting them to control their own lives and narratives.
