The board and CEO are looking for a mission-focused, seasoned, strategic, and process-minded leader with experience scaling an organization, leading an executive management team, and developing a performance culture among a group of diverse, talented individuals. The COO must be a leader who is able to help others at WGLI deliver measurable, cost-effective results that make the vision a reality. Importantly, the successful COO will have the skills, sensitivity, and personal confidence to tap into the power that each member of the team brings to this mission. While it is essential that the COO bring efficient and effective systems to increase the productivity of the organization, is it also critical that the team retain the creative spark that drives the WGLI concept.

The COO is involved in aligning organizational objectives, short- and long-term strategic planning and positioning, and organizational design. The COO oversees all strategy, operational and administrative functions of WGLI, specifically Operations, Talent, IT, Finance, Programs and Membership and manages the directors of these work groups. The COO will provide coordination of WGLI’s executive leadership team and be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the operational aspects of the annual budget and strategic plan.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Establishes and maintains an organizational culture, processes, and practices that enable bold creativity, entrepreneurship, collaboration, and a growth mindset.
  • Lead, coach, develop, and retain WGLI’s high-performance leadership teams with an emphasis on developing capacity in strategic analysis, planning, implementation, volunteer management and program budgeting.
  • Upgrade and implement an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, accounting standards, and procedures.
  • Improve internal communications and collaboration across the dispersed organization to deliver more quickly and efficiently on organizational initiatives, utilizing the Workplace by Facebook and G-Suite tools.
  • Provide programmatic leadership and input for all strategic plan implementation processes with the CEO and staff. Coaching program directors as they implement the strategic plan and transition program operations.
  • Utilize Asana as a system for tracking and reporting on the progress of the strategic plan implementation and make it transparent for all WGLI staff to be aware of and engaged in the process.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, or related field; preferred Master’s degree in nonprofit management, business, organizational leadership or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in HR, organizational development, programs, and/or process improvement.
  • Proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization and the ability to leverage strengths across program areas.
  • Capacity Building-ability to effectively build organization and staff capacity, developing a top-notch workforce and the processes that ensure the organization runs smoothly
  • Strategic Vision and Agility-ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate them into the organizational plan
  • Analytic and decisive decision maker with the ability to prioritize and communicate to leadership and staff key objectives and tactics necessary to achieve organizational goals.
  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, flexible, and innovative approach to operational management.
  • Passion, humility, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Commitment of a minimum of 1 year
