Alliance for GirlsMembers at 3rd Annual Conference

Alliance for Girls is the largest regional alliance of girls' organizations and champions in the country. We represent more than 180 organizations and leaders collectively serving more than 300,000 girls across the San Francisco Bay Area.

We are seeking volunteers to help us with the exhibition area at the EMPOWERMENT 2020 Count Up Conference that's being co-hosted by former Treasurer of the United States Rosie Rios and the City of San Francisco. The goal of the conference is to advance gender equity for women and girls throughout the Bay Area and beyond. Alliance for Girls will have its own booth, and we are also coordinating booths for 20 other girls' organizations. We are seeking volunteers who can commit 3-4 hours, helping us with one or more of the following:

  • 7am-8am: Setting up Alliance for Girls' booth in the exhibition area
  • 7am-8:30am: Checking in girls' organizations who are setting up a booth in the exhibition area
  • 8am-11am: Tabling at Alliance for Girls' booth
  • 12pm-3pm: Tabling at Alliance for Girls' booth
  • 2pm - 5pm: Tabling at Alliance for Girls' booth
  • 4:30pm - 5pm: Breaking down booths, packing up Alliance for Girls' materials
The exhibition area is located in the same area as the main stage, so volunteers will be able to see keynote presentations.

More info about the conference & EMPOWERMENT 2020:

Building on the momentum of the landmark 2016 Bay Area Women's Summit, San Francisco Mayor Edwin M. Lee and City Administrator Naomi M. Kelly are partnering with EMPOWERMENT 2020 to advance gender equity for women and girls throughout the Bay Area and beyond. EMPOWERMENT 2020 is championed by Rosie Rios, former Treasurer of the United States, who initiated and led the efforts to place the portrait of a woman on the U.S. currency in more than a century. Its mission is to advance women and girls in underrepresented areas of influence.

Conference highlights include:
  • Keynote speaker: Senator Dianne Feinstein
  • Session on girls in education, with 6 Bay Area Superintendents
  • 1,000 women and girl attendees
  • Key staff from the office of Senator Kamala Harris, Senator Nancy Pelosi and more!
Join us at this historic event and support our work by volunteering!

About Alliance for Girls

Mission Statement

Alliance for Girls mobilizes girls’ champions to address barriers facing girls, create conditions for their success, and advance systemic change to achieve equity. Our vision is to advance equitable communities in which every girl thrives.

Description

We are the largest regional alliance of girl-serving organizations and leaders in the country. Our membership includes 100+ organizations that employ 2,400 people with more than 5,100 volunteers serving more than 300,000 girls across six Bay Area counties.

The issues facing girls and young women are complex and multi-faceted. Alliance for Girls (AFG) is transforming the girls’ service sector from one of siloed, single-issue organizations, to a strong, connected network of organizations, with the necessary complexity and collective power to holistically meet girls’ needs and eliminate systemic barriers to their success.

Together we’re enabling new, integrated models for supporting girls with strong leadership, collaborative programming, original research and intergenerational, cross-disciplinary advocacy strategies.

We Believe:

  • That those closest to the problem are closest to the solution
  • In moving beyond the gender binary
  • That diverse leadership is more effective leadership
  • In the power of the collective
*"Girls" refers to gender expansive youth (cis girls, trans girls, non-binary youth, gender non-conforming youth, gender queer youth and any girl-identified youth).
