Are you a lover of the arts? Our volunteers learn what goes on behind the scenes and front of house! Volunteering with us is also a great opportunity to build your résumé, fulfill a community service requirement, or just to be a part of the theatre scene! In return for their work, volunteers receive a ticket voucher which is redeemable for admission to the Theatre’s productions throughout the season. Volunteers may also receive community service hours for volunteering at The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey. Volunteering with us provides immeasurable experience helping people of all demographics, and reinforces the importance of responsibility and expedience in all aspects of life.
The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey has a strong, committed Volunteer Corps that assists with our Front of House duties. The volunteers are extremely important in making the overall experience of the patrons enjoyable. Regular volunteer opportunities are available May through December, and we have no minimum requirement on volunteer hours.
During shows our volunteers assist House Management with the following tasks:
- Greet and welcome patrons.
- Distribute programs and escort patrons to their seats.
- Serve concession items (coffee, soft drinks, snacks) in an expedient and friendly manner.
- Assist patrons with gift shop selections.
- Be familiar with Theatre productions, activities and programs.
If you are interested in joining our volunteer team or have any questions please email volunteers@shakespearenj.org for more information! We look forward to hearing from you!
