Our dogs often need a place to stay while we get them ready for their forever homes. Some dogs need to recover from medical procedures, some need extra TLC and help with the stress of a kennel, some are just waiting while we find the right new home.We are looking for homes in the Concord, Walnut Creek and surrounding areas, with caring people who are home during the day and available to take dogs to and from medical appointments are sought. A fenced yard would be great. Dogs stay from a few days to a few months. A typical stay may be 3 weeks. You would take them to get spayed/neutered and they would recuperate while awaiting adoption. This is a very rewarding experience and a chance to help a dog in need.

Mission Statement

Dedicated to rescuing Poodles and Poodle Mixes while enriching the lives of those who adopt them.

Description

NorCal Poodle Rescue (NCPR) was founded in 1985 by standard poodle breeder Patty Moulthrop of Blue Skies Standard Poodles in Lafayette, California (now in Clayton). Patty says she couldn’t justify breeding poodles when she knew there were poodles in shelters that needed homes. She started rescuing and rehoming poodles by herself and then enlisted the help of other poodle lovers as NCPR volunteers. Since inception NCPR has rescued and rehomed about 2,000 poodles and poodle-mixes.
We are a group of volunteers who rescue, rehabilitate and find loving homes for more than 140 poodles and poodle mixes each year. Serving Northern California, we rescue and adopt standard, miniature and toy poodles, as well as poodle mixes. We respond to county shelters, humane societies and individuals via our website and phone hotline. Each poodle is spayed or neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped and groomed before adoption. In addition, we provide extensive medical care, fostering, boarding and training if needed before placement.
