The Ronald McDonald House needs volunteers to help us with our weekly housekeeping. We cannot do what we do as staff without weekly or biweekly volunteers. Our house helpers assist with cleaning, laundry, room preparation, admissative needs, and more.

We are looking for individuals who are energetic and interested in helping our families feel like they are at home while they are staying with us.

Some things to note:

• Volunteers will be asked to help with multiple needs, from cleaning the house and rooms to packing lunches, helping with donations, helping prepare evening meals, helping with admissions needs, and more. It all depends on what our needs are during your shift.
• All volunteers will have to go through a background check and volunteer orientation prior to becoming a House Helper

*If you have a specific skill that you have that could help with around the house, like carpentry or event planning, please let us know, as there might be some unique opportunities available.*

Houses

• MercyOne House
  • located at 1111 6th Ave., Des Moines. It is located on the 4th floor.
    • Due to MercyOne House being located inside MercyOne, all volunteers must have been vaccinated for COVID-19.
• Blank House
  • Located at 1441 Pleasant Street, Des Moines, near Unity Point/Blank Children's Hospital

Scheduling

• Both houses are open 7 days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and we have openings in the morning, afternoon, and night.
• Shifts are from 2-3 hours at a time.
