National Public Lands Day at Shadow Bay Park

Celebrate National Public Lands Day by helping to restore native scrub habitat! With support from the Duke Energy Foundation, Orange County Parks and Recreation and Bok Tower Gardens are partnering to restore an overgrown power line easement at Shadow Bay Park. This will help preserve a diversity of species, including gopher tortoises, pollinators, and endangered plant species. We are inviting the public to help clip and pull vines, cut and remove small saplings and brush, weed out grasses and invading species, and help rake away any of the vegetation debris.

This is an outdoor event and no prior experience is necessary. Staff will be on-site to provide full instructions. You can stay part of the morning or until noon. Please bring a bottle of water, hat, and sunscreen/bug spray if desired. Extra water and snacks will be provided. Wear long pants and closed-toe shoes or boots (cactus and other thorny plants are present). Please RSVP by Friday, September 22nd to attend.
