We are excited to announce that the Woodford Humane Society has been selected to receive the partial proceeds from the Iron Horse Half Marathon again this year. We are responsible for supplying volunteers, food and drinks for the event, which will raise roughly $10,000 for the animals. This event is a crucial part of raising funds necessary to care for so many orphaned animals throughout the year. Without government funding at any level, the Woodford Humane Society is completely dependent on private donations and fundraising events such as the Iron Horse Half Marathon to continue to provide care for over 1,000 homeless animals each year. We are wondering if any students or clubs with members at least 14 would like to volunteer some morning time at the event, which will take place on Sunday, October 15th in Midway. We would greatly appreciate any possible volunteers. Volunteers are allowed and encouraged to Decorate their stops as long as it does not obstruct the racers in any way. If you are unable to help out on race day we are also in need of volunteers to distribute flyers prior to the event. Day of volunteers would be needed from 6:00a - 11:30a on Sunday, October 15 in Midway. Flyer distribution would be happening in two waves and each person would have a pre-mapped out portion of Midway to cover. The flyers do not have to be done in one day but rather over the course of a week. The dates are the week of September 11 and October 2.
