As a Main Office helper/Receptionist, the person will greet visitors (after they have signed in with the Security Officer) and assist visitors in what they need (whether coming to meet with Administration, the Nurse or someone else at the school, have questions regarding the school, etc.).

The days we are looking for: Wednesdays and/or Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., but can be changed depending on the volunteer's availability.

The Main Office helper/Receptionist will also do some filing, answer calls, make copies and other office, non-confidential duties.

Description

Hartford PreKindergarten Magnet School is a Hartford magnet school with an enrollment of 160+ students from more than 20 surrounding towns in Hartford, Connecticut. Preschool years are important to a child's social and academic development; therefore, we strive to have our prek3 and prek4 students experience and education grounded in rich, early childhood curriculum aligned to the Early Childhood and Connecticut Common Core State standards. This is done using a CREATE method: Creative exploration/free and structured play; Research-based curriculum in Language, Literacy, Math and Science; Environmental connection - tie outdoors, primary instruction around native Connecticut flora and fauna; Aesthetic, calm atmosphere and appreciation of the arts; Thorough incorporation of language and early literacy concepts into all experiences and Entire child nurtured - family/school/community connection.
