Did you know that if a child can't read by the 3rd grade, they are four times less likely to graduate? That's why volunteering one to two hours a week can change lives. There is no experience needed, you will be trained on a simple step-by-step program to help children improve their reading skills. We have flexible times available between 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. throughout the school year. You will be matched with a student so you have the opportunity to watch them grow and improve! James Madison Elementary offers one on one tutoring for children that need to improve their reading skills. With AmeriCorps, we have a literary Coordinator that implements the STAR program.
