Our Foundation has started on a community promoted Inclusive education. This includes involving all stakeholders in supporting children with disabilities and other special needs to be enrolled and keep in school. These children should access, participate and achieve from the teaching/learning process. Some children are in school and are not benefitting because teachers dont have skills in teaching them ie they dont know sign language. Others are not in school because they are not prepared enough for inclusion. Reasons for this, may be they have speech problems, behavioural problems, physical challenges etc. The Foundation has started on training teachers at schools to equip them with knowledge and skills of managing the children with such needs. We have also started home visiting families with those children to provide early intervention services. At our centre, we would wish to run clinics in physiotherapy, speech and language and occupational therapies respectively. We need volunteers to support us in the following, speech and language therapy, physio/occupational therapy and or a special education teacher
Currently, we have engaged local leaders who have compiled for us lists of all children with disabilities and other special needs in all the 169 villages in the Municipality.
