ORGANIZATION: Volunteer New York!

Volunteers will help sort and organize clothing donations to help local, low-income children as they head back to school. The Sharing Shelf collects new and gently used clothing from the Westchester community. Volunteers will join us in our warehouse as we sort everything by quality, then size, season and gender. We then create a package with a week's worth of seasonally appropriate items, matched into outfits, according to a child's sizing needs. Social workers, educators, attorneys, therapists and others working with children in need place orders for their clients then come to our warehouse and pick up the personalized packages. In September, we will be packing fall clothing. One adult can bring up to 2 children ages 12-13. Each child must be registered individually.
