Your chance to help preserve YOUR American treasures is Saturday, October 8, on National Public Lands Day. Join New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park and volunteers of all ages 9:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on this nationwide day of service. You can share a few hours and make a big difference!
New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park project includes planting trees along the Claiborne Corridor. Volunteers of all ages are welcome; children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Volunteers should be prepared to get dirty: work clothes (long sleeves and pants are best due to poison ivy), closed-toe shoes or boots, work gloves, insect repellent, sunscreen, and a personal water bottle are recommended. The park will provide water for volunteers. The work projects will happen rain or shine (though thunderstorms will force cancellation), so if it looks rainy, bring your rain gear.
Volunteers must register by Thursday, October 6. To register, call the volunteer coordinator at 504-589-3882 ext. 120
Tree planting location will be emailed at a later date.

About New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park
Location:
916, New Orleans, LA 70116, US
Mission Statement
In 1987, the 100th U.S. Congress resolved that "Jazz is hereby designated as a rare and valuable national American treasure to which we should devote our attention, support, and resources to make sure it is preserved, understood and promulgated." The park's mission is to serve the nation as a global leader in the promulgation of New Orleans jazz by enhancing and instilling a public appreciation and understanding of the origins, early history, development and progression of this uniquely American music art form - jazz. To preserve unimpaired this cultural resource and it's core values for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of this and future generations.
Description
Located in the heart of New Orleans French Quarter, the park's primary visitor center is located at 916 N. Peters Street and is a good starting point to learn about our diverse opportunities to learn about the history and culture of New Orleans jazz. Ranger-led demonstrations, talks, video documentaries and live music are held at both our visitor center and the Old U.S. Mint five days a week. Stop by and listen for awhile. The Old U. S. Mint, located at 400 Esplanade Avenue, features a world class performance venue and jazz museum on the second and third floors.
