  • 4 people are interested

Volunteer health and wellness coaches conduct classes for small groups of older adults on topics such as fall prevention, dealing with chronic disease, dealing with diabetes, and dealing with chronic pain. They use structured curricula and are paired with a co-leader. Classes are held once a week for either six or eight consecutive weeks.

No prior classroom experience is needed. Preference is given to older adults who have successfully managed chronic disease (e.g., diabetes, chronic pain, heart disease, and COPD).

Classes are scheduled to accommodate volunteers' availability. They are held in various venues throughout the North Central Texas area, consisting of Collin, Denton, Ellis, Erath, Hood, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Navarro, Palo Pinto, Parker, Rockwall, Somervell, and Wise counties.

Volunteers may request modest stipends (in the amount of $12.50 per classroom hour) to offset their time and travel costs.
