ORGANIZATION: Area Agency on Aging, a program of the North Central Texas Council of Governments

  • 4 people are interested

Volunteer long-term care ombudsmen serve as advocates for residents of nursing facilities and assisted living facilities in the North Central Texas area. After completing extensive classroom and experiential training, volunteer ombudsmen are assigned to one or more facilities and asked to visit residents approximately once per week. They ensure that residents' rights to quality of life and quality of care are honored. If residents request assistance, volunteer ombudsmen work with nursing facility staff, family members, and others to resolve grievances.
