Above and Beyond Family Recovery Center seeks a very rare, selfless-type special person with an uncanny ability to organize maniacal-type chaos while smiling and whistling a tune. We seem to be attracting a growing number of people with oversized hearts who want to give more than they receive and it is somewhat overwhelming our abilities to guide them in useful directions. So much so that we end up unwittingly hamstringing our own efforts to serve our homeless and vulnerable populations in the most efficient manner possible.

To wit, we need a person who might enjoy herding cats in his or her spare time, because the skill sets equivocate.

The ideal person will need to acquire an almost magical ability to take their deep familiarity of who we are (which will be an acquired sensitivity that'll take a moment) and transfer it into our volunteers in a very positive, reassuring manner and, at the same time, make certain that their behaviors are well guided so as to properly represent the optimistic, "can-do", empowering spirit of our center. We want someone who can help us to radiate our gargantuan tolerance and non-judgement as we wrestle with one of the toughest, most ignored and mistreated constituencies that exists: The Homeless, The Disenfranchised, The Uninsured, The Ignored, The Vulnerable and The Mentally and Behaviorally Challenged.

We want a volunteer coordinator who can interact with our volunteers with gratitude, tolerance, love, acceptance, and relentlessly patient education and training. We want someone who is very different than the rest of the world because we are very different than the rest of the world.

So we need "another one of us." A quirky, kind of funny in a safe slapstick way, a brilliant organizer who knows how to twist up motivational humor in new and different ways that will bring volunteers back. S/he will occupy a position of esteem and importance, saturated in the experiential richness of watching a variety of otherwise-ignored substance abusing constituencies come out of the fog and begin to operate as functional members of their families and communities. The experience of contributing to these numerous life-changing events is transformational and rewarding in a very rare way. The uniqueness of our treatment center is evident upon entry, but our clinical protocol is what stands the recovery "norms" on their heads.
