Project Ready

ECARE is recruiting adult Reading Pal volunteers interested in helping Pre-Kindergarten students develop strong early literacy and social emotional skills necessary for kindergarten success. A commitment of one hour per week (M-F) for the school year is requested. We currently need volunteers at the following locations: Montclair Elementary School, Semmes Elementary School, West Pensacola Elementary School, Lincoln Park Elementary School and Weis Elementary School.

Volunteers are trained to effectively use themed literacy kits to actively engage students in age appropriate learning activities. Mentor training and on-going support are provided to foster a positive experience.

A successful background check including references and a national fingerprint-based criminal history screen is required.

Volunteers must be able to work independently with young children and should be smoke/ tobacco and nicotine free while serving as a Reading Pal.

ECARE is a business led and volunteer driven collaborative that mobilizes community stakeholders to drive overall birth to five early learning results. It is our goal to build a strong foundation of students entering the education system ready to learn.


Our goal for the 2019-20 school year is to recruit at least 200 adult volunteers to help pre-kindergarten students develop their early literacy skills.
