The Mass Alliance of HUD Tenants (NAHT) seeks a dynamic, self-starter to assist marketing and communications efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to build communication and social media skills while contributing to the local and national tenants’ movement.
Responsibilities:
Assist in developing website and social media content for two organizations (Facebook and Twitter)
Knowledge of or willingness to learn NationBuilder website platform
Creating flyers and promotional materials
Attending and promoting tenant meetings and events
Qualifications:
Enthusiasm for the mission of NAHT, passionate about tenants’ rights and commitment to social change
Excellent written and verbal communication, strong editing skills
Excellent computer skills with experience in social media & Microsoft Office
Dependable, reliable and ability to work independently
Understanding of the basic principles of communications, public relations and/or
marketing.
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
Availability for occasional evening tenant meetings
Video and photography experience preferred

The Mass Alliance of HUD Tenants (MAHT) organizes, trains and provides technical assistance to more than 40 HUD tenant groups, currently representing over 8,000 predominantly low income families in Eastern and Central Massachusetts who live in privately-owned, HUD-subsidized multifamily housing. MAHT’s mission is to preserve and improve at-risk HUD buildings as permanently affordable housing with a maximum of resident participation, ownership and control.

Founded in 1983 as the nation’s first and most accomplished area wide HUD tenant coalition, MAHT is the only resident-run, membership coalition providing organizing and technical assistance to HUD tenants in Eastern and Central Massachusetts.
