Sacramento County Department of Health and Human Services Senior and Adult Division serves more than 32,000 vulnerable senior and disabled adults in our community. The department is seeking caring volunteers to place phone calls on a regular basis to the most frail and isolated elderly in our system of care to ensure their safety and well-being. Volunteers will be assigned a number of clients to call on the day they volunteer. The phone calls will engage clients in a brief conversation with a cheerful and positive manner inquiring the client's condition and daily life. volunteers must have excellent listening skills, able to speak clearly and respectfully. Ability to work well with clients, co-workers, and other volunteers in a professional and cooperative manner. Flexible schedule during 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays with a six months commitment.

We deliver social services to Sacramento residents of all ages. We direct resources toward creative strategies and programs which prevent problems, improve well-being, and increase access to services for individuals and families. To further our mission, we seek close working relationships among staff, with other government offices, and within the community.


Services provided include Child Protective Services (CPS) and Senior and Adult Services (SAS). SAS consists of Adult Protective Services, In-Home Supportive Services and the Public Administrator/Public Guardian/Public Conservator.
