Volunteer Your Pet!

The Nature Connection Seeking Therapy Animals To Enrich Lives of Elder Veterans

Is your pet your best friend? The Nature Connection is seeking volunteers who want to share their loving pet with elders, including veterans. If you currently own a small animal that has therapeutic/educational potential, we invite you to help deliver nature programs to elders, including veterans of all abilities near Bedford, MA. Volunteers may "loan" their pet for monthly daytime programming (we invite you to help with local transport or we will pick up and drop off), or you can participate in programming with elders as a handler. We ask for an ongoing commitment of 2-4 hours a month.

We are seeking the following small animals: chinchillas, rabbits, small birds (including finches, doves), snakes, hamsters, guinea pigs, cats and other sweet animals we should meet! All pets and volunteers must be pre-screened; to participate as a handler you must complete a one-day Nature Connection training program. Veterinary and vaccine records are required for each pet.

Nature Connection volunteers are kind and compassionate, delivering monthly therapeutic animal and nature-assisted programming to individuals in need across Greater Boston. Partner sites include special needs schools, at-risk youth programs, Alzheimer’s care facilities, nursing homes and day habilitation programs.

Apply to volunteer your pet online today at http://www.nature-connection.org/volunteering-your-animal/.
