VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE OF POSITION: Luz Maria Foundation, Volunteer

SUPERVISED BY: Scarlet Adames, Coordinator and Luz Maria Utrera, Founder

PURPOSE OF JOB: To assist in all matters of advocacy for Luz Maria Foundation and current affiliations. the Foundation has recently partnered up with the SDG Action Campaign to help realize the 2030 Agenda at the United Nations, and with the City to bring mentoring programs to young girls and women all over the 5 boroughs. YOU CAN BE PART OF SOMETHING GREAT!


ABOUT LUZ MARIA FOUNDATION:

Luz Maria Foundation Inc. is a 501(c)(3), tax exempt organization that helps women who are victims of domestic violence and women in need by providing the tools they need to move forward in their lives during their times of struggle.

We work and sign agreements to promote, defend and disseminate DDHH (human rights) for women, children, and adolescents.

We work together with other human rights NGOs to create awareness about domestic violence in order to make a better and safer world for all.


DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
  • Assist with writing or prepping coursework for the mentoring program.
  • Assist with affiliate programs such as the UN’s 2030 Agenda.
  • Create Social Media Content and actively advocate on your own social media.
  • Run Foundation related errands.
  • Assist with Field Trips, Meeting, and Conferences.
  • Attend weekly or bi-weekly group meetings
COMMITMENT REQUIRED:

A minimum commitment of four-five hours per week for a 3-month period is required. Volunteer opportunities will be available Monday - Friday, and weekends as needed. Volunteer choosing to assist with the Mentoring Program must be available from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm (REQUIRED but will include some flexibility).

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:

Must be age 18 or older
Reliable, responsible
Able to work independently
Able to accept supervision
Typing skills and computer skills helpful
Detail oriented
Good organizational skills helpful

TRAINING/ORIENTATION PROVIDED:
On-the-job training provided by the Foundation.


LOCATION OF JOB:
Multiple locations throughout the city.

To promote and mobilize members of the public, including teenagers and young adults, to serve as advocates at rallies and other public events around the country, in order to stage a powerful and striking condemnation against domestic violence.
