The DC Ocean Centre
A place that will make you feel like you are walking on the ocean floor without getting wet.

Much easier than working in a public library, this position does not require vast knowledge of standard library procedures. Within the DC Ocean Centre is a 300sq' library, featuring ocean-themed materials, with reading nook & display items. Responsibilities include organizing the room, encouraging patrons to write reviews of books, sharing reviews on Facebook & Twitter, reminding patrons to return materials, promoting the library & its programs, & letting the public & members know about new materials via social media & email. Person must be organized, computer literate, and familiar with or willing to learn Facebook & Twitter.

Mission Statement

The mission of DARLING CETACEANS is to educate children of all ages about marine mammals, the marine environment and how humans utilize the marine environment; be a leading resource for marine mammal scientists and researchers; and to increase the amount of information known about marine mammal species.

Description

Involved with numerous projects on local and national level; including recycling at festivals, outreach programs in classrooms, scout programs, organizing environmental events (Muskegon Area Earth Week & Muskegon County Water Festival), beach clean-ups and water quality monitoring, amphibian surveys, temporary education displays, and collaborating with other eco-groups. Also, we are developing the Ocean Centre, an interactive museum & research center.
