AmeriCorps is a great opportunity to work with the underserved, to get on the job experience, and attend various training opportunities, all while earning money to put towards your college education. The AmeriCorps position through Literacy Volunteers of Illinois is open at the Illinois Youth Center in Warrenville includes tutoring incarcerated youth, learning more more about juvenile justice and assisting the program coordinator with various tasks. Serving as an AmeriCorps member can be a life changing experience. Go for it!
The Illinois Youth Center in Warrenville has both male and female students, all between the ages of 13 and 21. Most are behind in reading and/or math and benefit from one-on-one tutoring.
AmeriCorps members are required to show proof of COVID vaccination and undergo weekly testing, provided at the Center. Masking is required at all times.
