ORGANIZATION: Total Family Care Coalition

Total Family Care Coalition is a not-for-profit family run organization. Gail Avent the founder/owner founded this organization after being frustrated with stumbling blocks and navigating systems to get help with her son who has a mental health diagnosis. Our organization provides family support and advocacy to parent/caregivers and youth while navigating systems to access the community resources they need to flourish and realized their dreams in the community where they live. Total family Care Coalition provides: education, life skill support and empowerment to parent and child in a holistic approach. Our employees have "lived experience". They have successfully navigated systems and are ready to pay forward to other parent and youth who think they are alone. We include parent in everything we do. We care about those we serve and we help build positive family engagement and help all "rekindle hope and faith" that families and be safe and healthy while thriving in the community. We do this one family at a time.

We are seeking to apply for an AmeriCorps Service Grant so we can build staff capacity and development of our youth group. This youth group presently work on many mental health and substance use campaigns. We support our youth in learning to help youth. As parents, we hear youth when they say "nothing without us" that is why timing is right for TFCC to support the growth and development of youth voices by enlisting AmeriCorps help. The proposal is due December 2017. More specifically, we are seeking assistance with writing our performance measurements, need statement and evaluation plan.
