CFFP Logo

The Child-Friendly Faith Project is not just any child advocacy organization. We raise awareness of religious child abuse and neglect. Sometimes religion can be used to justify harmful acts. We are experts in this field and seek to educate the public about this important issue and provide survivors needed resources. The organization was begun by Janet Heimlich who wrote the groundbreaking book, "Breaking Their Will: Shedding Light on Religious Child Maltreatment."

We are currently looking for an individual to serve on our Board of Directors as Treasurer and oversee the finances of our small but growing nonprofit. The position includes presenting a quarterly budget and report to the board and overseeing a small team that includes an accountant and volunteer bookkeepers. It is not necessary to have experience in nonprofit finance, however, we do prefer someone who has overseen the finances of a small business and has a working knowledge of Quickbooks Online. The position requires a referral and criminal background check.

In addition to helping us with our finances, you would join our board of directors and help make decisions about the CFFP's programs and goals. We meet once a quarter. If you are interested in this position, please send a resume and a description of why you are interested in joining the CFFP. We look forward to meeting you!

Mission Statement

The Child-Friendly Faith Project is a national, nonprofit, 501(c)(3) public charity that raises awareness of religious child maltreatment or RCM. RCM is child abuse or neglect that is enabled by religious beliefs held by perpetrators, victims, or the surrounding community.

Description

We fulfill our mission by developing educational programs that benefit the general public, survivors, and faith communities. Our goal is to help people understand how to identify RCM and its risk factors and to recognize its negative impact on children. Our programs are designed to accomplish three key goals:

1. Educate the Public
We manage a website that is one of the most comprehensive in offering vital information on RCM. We also oversee social media outlets that allow the public to discuss and learn about this issue, and we give media interviews and slideshow presentations at notable events.

2. Support Survivors
We maintain a clearinghouse of resources to help survivors of RCM find reputable therapeutic programs, and we advocate on behalf of survivors seeking to communicate with religious institutions and organizations that have harmed them.

3. Partner with Faith Communities
We offer curricula to faith communities interested in learning more about RCM and how to protect children.
