JVS will run professional communications classes for MGH research fellows who are non-native English speakers to help them improve pronunciation and conversation skills. Volunteers will facilitate group activities, correct pronunciation, help students with conversation practice, and more. The lead teacher will provide supervision and materials to volunteers.
Class schedule:
Prof. Comm ESL Level 4
Days: Tuesdays
Times: 5:30-8:00
Schedule: September 12 - December 5 (no class Thanksgiving week)

Days: Wednesdays
Times: 5:30-8:00
Schedule: September 13 - December 6 (no class Thanksgiving week)

Schedule: September 14 - December 7 (no class Thanksgiving week)
Volunteer qualifications: Patience and understanding of adult learners. Willingness to work in group setting with non-native English speakers. Interest in helping MGH research fellows improve their pronunciation and conversation skills. Professionalism.
Program/Department Overview:
JVS works with employers to develop and customize training and education services for their employees at their location. Based on the employers’ business and workforce development goals, JVS will provide: English language classes (for non-native speakers), adult basic education, pre-college classes, customer service training, effective communication classes, supervisory training, computer classes, and medical terminology classes. Employer partners include CVS, Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates, Legal Sea Foods, Hebrew Senior Life, Partners Healthcare, Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital, Mass General Hospital, and many more.
