Outgoing/compassionate person willing to help develop a plan for volunteers. Ideal candidate would be flexible, comfortable dealing with change and have the ability to deal with diverse personalities. Job Description: Take the lead in developing a Volunteer program for Special Treasures for the benefit of The Children’s Homes of Iredell County and Foster Youth Work Force Development. Act as an ambassador by promoting The Children’s Homes of Iredell County and foster youth success. Volunteer should be a team player but also enjoy volunteering independently. Excellent customer service skills are necessary. Time commitment would be 1 to 2 days per week, 4-8 hours per week. Duties:  Assist in implementing volunteer training program.  Coordinate volunteer weekly schedules.  Train new volunteers.  Issue newsletter to communicate with volunteers.  Attend volunteer training.

The mission of Special Treasures is to help foster youth build the skills, assets and education they need to make a successful transition to self-sufficiency and responsible adulthood.

Description

Special Treasures is a non-profit workforce development program preparing youth for employment and ongoing education. The program functions through the modality of a specialty resale store that is supported by the community through monetary and merchandise donations, as well as community partnerships. Merchandise donations are sold in the store to finance on the job training and store operations. Special Treasures trains and develops youth who are currently in foster care or who have been in foster care in their past. The workforce development program was founded by the Children’s Homes of Iredell County, which is the main source of youth that attend and are trained through Special Treasures.
