In 2014, Stewards launched a new Marine Education Program that includes our engaging "Steward Ship." The Steward Ship functions as a mobile marine education center that we park at various locations along the Sonoma Coast. In addition, we visit schools and community events, where our staff and docents educate the public as to how they can help steward our unique natural and cultural resources.
Our education programs are serving many youth (K-12) who do not have opportunities to experience outdoor adventure programs like we offer. We still need more docents to help staff it out on the coast and welcome your interest with the following:
- Help Stewards expand our work with school groups to include citizen science activities.
- Staff our new Mobile Marine Education Center called the Steward Ship at locations on Sonoma Coast on weekends and at special events.

Description
Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods is an environmental non-profit that works in partnership with California State Parks in the Russian River Sector of the Sonoma Mendocino Coast District to provide public and school education, stewardship, and citizen science programs. We also help operate Austin Creek State Recreation Area; maintain and revitilize State Park visitors centers and historic sties, including Pond Farm Pottery; acquire and restore natural habitats on park lands; and support vital advocacy efforts.
