ORGANIZATION: 18 Degrees (formerly Berkshire Children and Families)

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

Berkshire Children and Families is embarking on an agency-wide effort to grow its volunteer program. There are many opportunities to be of service, including becoming a mentor for at-risk youth, advocating for children in the juvenile court system in cases of abuse and neglect (CASA), mentoring young parents, reading to children, tutoring, sorting donations and childcare for parents in groups. No experience needed - just the desire to make a difference in your community. Commitments range from one-day activities to 18 months. We will find the right fit for you!

Come to an informational session at our Family Resource Center at 480 West Street, Pittsfield on Thursday, August 24th at either 9am-10am or 6pm-7pm to find out more. Please RSVP to Paula Buxbaum (pbuxbaum@berkshirechildren.org) by no later than Wednesday, August 23rd. We look forward to meeting you!

Mission Statement

Every child in a family; every family in a community

Description

18 Degrees serves the people and families in our communities - whether by birth, choice, or circumstance. Our services respectfully provide the support people need to be able to discover possibilities that may not otherwise be clear. 18 Degrees develops respectful, inclusive partnerships with those we serve, walking side by side, together as the way to their goals and new beginnings come to light.

18 Degrees promotes the well-being of children and the strength of families to build better communities in the Berkshires and Pioneer Valley. We provide education, parenting skills and support, prevention and intervention, advocacy, and life skills across a spectrum of programs serving children and families in four areas: early childhood education and care, foster care and adoption, child and family well-being, youth and community development.
