C&O Canal Trust Program Volunteer

REPORTS TO: Becky Curtis, Director of Programs and Partnerships

LOCATION: C&O Canal Nat’l Historical Park Headquarters, Hagerstown, MD

DURATION: Flexible

HOURS: Flexible

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The C&O Canal Trust is looking for a motivated high school student to assist with daily operations in both the office and the Park. Duties may include:

• Assisting with our volunteer program, Canal Pride. Tasks include data entry, volunteer outreach, and preparing for and participating in volunteer events.
• Assisting with research, public program development, and maintenance tasks for our award-winning Canal Quarters overnight experience program (www.CanalQuarters.org).
• Write short blog and social media posts as needed.
• Other office duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Leadership and organizational skills.
• Outgoing self-starter, but collaborates well in a team environment.
• Must have experience in the use of software programs such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• As this position may involve extensive local travel to and from events, a personal vehicle is required.
• A sense of humor and positive outlook!
