The New Life Students to Scholars Center is a free afterschool program operating in the heart of the English Avenue community in Atlanta. Within our program our students practice performing arts, take music lessons, develop academic discipline and test taking strategies, receive one-on-one tutoring assistance for one hour each day, and eat a nutritious home cooked meal prepared/sponsored by a fantastic team of volunteers. We also provide adult literacy tutoring free of charge for local residents.

We are searching for meal volunteers for the spring 2020 semester. Meal volunteers purchase, cook, and bring nutritious meals for our students to eat family style during the program. We ask volunteers to provide a nutritionally balanced, yet kid friendly meal, dessert, and drinks for approximately 20 people. Meal volunteers are not required to stay and serve their meals, but they are welcome to do so if interested. We ask that meals be dropped off at the center no later than 4:30 p.m. and our program operates Monday - Thursday. Volunteers may also sponsor a meal at $125 per meal here: http://www.covchurchgiving.com/p-3185-student-meals.aspx. Volunteers may sign up to bring a meal here:

Description

Our integrative approach focuses on meeting the needs of students within their urban context. We’ve formed a discipleship community with children and youth who have been overlooked, and are considered the invisible ones. We bring partners together to form a network of support. We serve alongside our students and their families; not over them. We invite you to be a part of the New Life Students to Scholars Center family.
