Come volunteer in a very heart warming, rewarding and fun environment!
Home of the Innocents' Kosair Charities Pediatric Convalescent Center cares for children who are medically complex. These children have medical needs that require 24 hour skilled nursing care.
Volunteers serve a vital role by lending a helping hand to staff with getting kids from here to there. This may be through simply pushing their wheelchair from one area to the next to helping them get on the bus for field trips. Volunteers also join in on various activities at the Home and on field trips or outings, helping staff with transportation and keeping the kids engaged. Outings consist of going to the mall, bowling, the movies, Science Center, the zoo and more.
Volunteers also have the opportunity to come visit with a child or two. This visit may consist of reading to the kids, watching a movie, taking them for a walk in their wheelchair or just sitting with them.
This opportunity is available for junior (age 13-17) and adult volunteers. Groups are encouraged to get involved as well.

Established in 1880, the Home provides a range of important residential and community-based services. Serving more than 10,000 children and their families last year, our programs include residential and community-based clinical treatment services, crisis and intervention services, therapeutic loving foster care and adoption services, and a pediatric convalescent center for children who are medically complex or terminally ill.
Thanks to our many supporters, we operate world-class facilities that impact children’s lives throughout our region. For many of these children, this is where hope begins.
