To celebrate our 60th anniversary, the Accokeek Foundtion will be hosting its annual fundraising dinner, "Cruise on the Potomac," on Sunday, September 10.
We are looking for a small team of volunteers to provide event support both leading up-to and on the day-of the event. These volunteers will be part of the planning committee, or "Gala Guild," and will work alongside Foundation staff to make the event a success.
The event will take place on the National Elite yacht, and will include a sunset cruise from National Harbor to Piscataway Park.

Mission Statement
According to the Foundation's 1957 charter, "It shall be the purpose of this Corporation to preserve, protect and foster, for scientific, educational or charitable use and study for the benefit of the people of the nation, the historical sites and relics, trees, plants, and wildlife rapidly disappearing from an area of great natural beauty along the Maryland shore of the historic Potomac River."
Description
In partnership with the National Park Service, the Accokeek Foundation stewards 200 acres of Piscataway Park. Situated directly across the Potomac River from George Washington’s Mount Vernon, this land was protected to preserve historic views and now serves as an outdoor classroom for educational programs about land conservation, historic preservation, sustainable agriculture, and environmental stewardship. Entertaining tours and performances, customized experience based activities, and service learning opportunities help visitors connect to the land and to one another.
