PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Dallas Pets Alive is a volunteer organization focused on eliminating the killing of companion animals. We are growing fast and keeping everyone updated on what is going on in the organization has become a challenge. We have introduced a newsletter that goes out every other month and need the help getting this done. These roles could be filled by one or two volunteers, so if you are interested in any one let us know!

Writer / Editor Role

We need help taking stories written by volunteers, Fosters and adopters and turning them into short articles for the newsletter.

Newsletter Creation in Mailchimp Role

We are looking for someone to take articles, information, links, pictures and other information and put together the actual newsletter using Mailchimp. This role requires both creative skills in designing and laying out the newsletter as well as technical skills in the use of Mailchimp.

Project Manager

We need someone to track all of the moving pieces and make sure that the newsletter gets out successfully every other month!

SALARY/PAYRATE: Volunteer.

TIME REQUIREMENT: 4- 6 hours per month.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Take notes and information provided from others and turn them into a professional and interesting short articles. - Writing/Editing Role
• Take articles and information from various sources and put the newsletter together in the Mailchimp tool, creating or sourcing missing information such as pictures and links. - For Mailchimp role
• Can drive various tasks and team members over a 6 week period to write articles, submit information and provide the content for the newsletter and get the newsletter out on time. - For PM Role

CONTROLS OVER WORK : This position reports to the Volunteer Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have excellent writing skills (motivational, educational, influential). - Writing/Editing Role
• Experience with Mailchimp or similar web applications. - For Mailchimp Role
• Experience as a Project Management preferred, but experience driving tasks to successful completion ok as well. - Project Management Role
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and maintain professional level correspondence at all times.
• Must display a positive attitude at all times and present DPA in a positive manner to the public.
• Must possess excellent problem solving ability, and ability to work within deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
• Must have HS diploma or higher degree of education.
