Volunteer for 2 hours a week (or more) with XPRIZE and help improve adult literacy in Los Angeles for many families.
Role & Responsibilities: You can help adults looking to better their lives by volunteering for the roles below:
Spanish speakers greatly needed!
- LEAD A TEAM- Manage and educate your team for the testing/event.
- SIGN IN/OUT- Sign people in and out.
- INTAKE- Welcoming participants and downloading an app on their smart phone to determine if they are eligible to participate.
- TEST- Administering the tests as a Test Officer (includes a 1.5 hour training).
- RECRUIT- Informing potential attendees about the program.
No experience is necessary, only a love of learning is required! Each volunteer is matched to a position and meet to help administer baseline tests at an adult school or public library. Volunteers can receive test certifications, meals (depending upon shift) and support from a dedicated Regional Coordinator.
Time Commitment: 2+ hours each week for a minimum of 3 shifts - day and time to be determined by your schedule. Volunteers must commit to entire shifts.
Requirements: Must register on LAWorks.com and/or enrolled in RSVP. Completion of an application, two 45 minute online orientations (for testing officer role).
Parking & Transportation: Parking will be dependent upon your testing location; transportation needs to be provided by each volunteer.
Benefits: Our volunteers say that this experience is the highlight of their week. Having an opportunity to help a person learn to read and grow personally is very rewarding. You will be contributing to your community and meeting other volunteers.
Sign Up: Reply to courtney@laworks.com or go to www.laworks.com/XPRIZE to reserve your place.
