The mission of the Alain Locke Charter School is to serve as a demonstration for urban schools exemplifying excellence in academics, the arts, personal and social development, and producing students who are globally competitive. Alain Locke serves 560 K-12 students in the historically underserved community of East Garfield Park.
Alain Locke's Associate Board is a group of young professionals committed to serving the organization and its mission. The Associate Board strives to develop themselves as model philanthropic leaders and next generation advocates for education. The Associate Board plays an integral role in the Alain Locke community, volunteering their time and energy in support of the school's mission.
The Associate Board's primary goal is to work together to raise funds and awareness to ensure the organization has adequate support to fulfill its mission. Associate Board members are the organization's strongest emissaries and possess the ability to identify new entities and partners to broaden visibility and garner support from a variety of stakeholders including individuals, corporations, foundations, community groups, political interests and media as appropriate. Specific goals are determined each year by the Associate Board leadership and board body, taking into account the school's evolving needs.
