The organization wishes to start receiving international volunteers (students OR corporate) with talent, skill, interest among others, to complement FOCUSED support to the communities by working with our staff on the organization programs of their interest. Volunteers are set to gain experience in doing international development work and exciting cross-cultural emersion.
The organization supports vulnerable women and youth with social and economic empowerment which includes: i) micro-enterprise projects for income generation and initiation of employment opportunities; ii) environment protection and promotion; iii) Water and Sanitation promotion in the community; iv) appropriate technology and ICT skills promotion for youth in and out of school; v) games and sports for the youth and Social Research
Volunteer placements depend on your time schedule and the extent of experience you wish to attain. As a young organization, we are flexible. We work to tailor your volunteer experience to be the best possible according to your volunteer objectives.
The FOCUSED volunteer program provides social support to volunteers before, during and after completing the volunteer program. FOCUSED has a volunteer Support and Supervision Team (VSST) responsible for ensuring an enriching volunteer experience. These are local staff with wide experience in volunteer programs and development work. The VSST works with the volunteers in the process of achieving their volunteer objectives and helps them with setting tasks and targets and measuring progress towards their objectives; while facilitating meaningful impact of volunteers' work with the communities. The VSST orients the volunteers in basic tips and tools needed for navigating he local community in order to immerse with the local systems before engaging in development work.

To provide support to local communities in order to sustainably engender their development for self- sustenance. The organization aims at strengthening local communities to address their development priorities; build community capacity to identify their available resources and support them to utilize their resources effectively and efficiently to strengthen their incomes.
Description
Foundation for Community Utilization of Sustainable Empowerment and Development (FOCUSED - UGANDA) is a community based organization started two years ago in Kasese District western Uganda.
The organization supports vulnerable women and youth with social and economic empowerment; this includes i) micro-enterprise projects for income generation and initiation of employment opportunities; ii) environment protection and promotion; iii) Water and Sanitation promotion in the community; iv) appropriate technology and ICT skills promotion for youth in and out of schools; v) games and sports for the youth and Social Research.
FOCUSED activities are pertinent to the sustainable development and empowerment principles which prescribe community engagement, participation and control in addressing common root issues in communities; plus meaningful, partnerships, capacity building, accountability, ethics and poverty reduction.
FOCUSED extends invitation to both local and international volunteers and intern applicants to help add knowledge in building programs and supporting communities in the implementation of sustainable projects. We need to partner with networks of likeminded stakeholders who are doing similar work for joint lobbying and advocacy efforts.
