WearWoof is Pittsburgh's only women's resale boutique raising money for homeless pets! We're a community of fashion- and animal-lovers, and we’re GROWING. The best way to expand the capacity of our organization is by expanding our community right inside the WearWoof Shop. You can be the driving force behind our mission by volunteering with us!
Did you know that 9,000 homeless dogs and cats will die each day in American animal shelters, simply because no one adopted them? Locally, an estimated 20,000 dogs, cats, kittens and puppies will not make it out of our shelters alive this year.
At WearWoof, our mission is to end pet homelessness in Western PA by helping our shelters and rescues to adopt out more animals, offer free and low-cost spay/neuter programs, deal with medical emergencies and educate the community about pet homelessness.
We raise money for these important programs through the sale of donated fashion and accessories, and we can’t do it without our volunteers.
Our Shop Volunteers are AWESOME! They ring up purchases, dress the mannequins, assist customers, inform people about our mission, sort and prep new inventory, and play with our adorable Shop Cat, Dolly - all while forming lasting relationships and having FUN.
Our Shop Volunteers are DEDICATED! Several of our volunteers have been with WearWoof since it was founded, and most of our volunteers have been with us for more than a year. Our volunteers believe in the power of our mission, and they are driven to use their time and talent to make the WearWoof Shop a beautiful and inviting place to be.
Our Shop Volunteers are a COMMUNITY. They support, help, and teach other when they come together from a variety of backgrounds in pursuit of the common goal of helping animals. Our volunteers say that WearWoof is an important part of their lives and social calendars.
Are you AWESOME, DEDICATED, and seeking a COMMUNITY? Become a Shop Volunteer today! We are looking for women of all ages (16 and up) to volunteer 8 hours or more a month in our Shop, which is located at McIntyre Square in the North Hills.
This is a great opportunity for high school and college students looking for service-learning projects, stay-at-home moms, retired ladies, or anyone who is looking to make new friends while making a difference in the lives of homeless dogs, cats, kittens, puppies, reptiles, birds and even farm animals!

Mission Statement
WearWoof’s Mission is to establish Pittsburgh as the Middle Atlantic region’s most pet-friendly city by supporting the work of like-minded shelters, rescues and organizations in ending pet homelessness, providing resources and education for responsible pet ownership, and aiding the efforts of small, volunteer based local rescues through the consolidation of information, resources and support.
Description
WearWoof is not a shelter or rescue. We are an animal welfare organization that operates a women’s resale shop. Our goal is to support the work of approved shelters and rescues whose mission is aligned with ours. Although we support the efforts Pittsburgh area Shelter and Rescue Partners of all sizes, we are especially attentive to the needs of smaller rescues and shelters who are big on heart but low on resources. Proceeds from sales at the shop, as well as our other fundraising activities, are directed toward our Shelter and Rescue Partners. These Partners are local groups and organizations that must undergo an application and vetting process before being approved to receive WearWoof funding and support.
