Mentors use simple, pre-planned resources to assist small groups of elementary students with reading support & homework completion. Mentors also provide much needed encouragement, support, & care to our kids in a Christian faith-based environment.
Reading Mentors assist small groups of at-risk elementary students with reading level growth and homework completion by utilizing our Reading Mentor Guide in our after-school learning community during the school year. Mentors also provide much needed encouragement, support, and care to our kids.No formal education experience is required.
Volunteer weekly Monday-Thursday from 3:00-5:00 PM at one of our Dallas ISD Elementary School locations. Mentors typically commit to volunteer 1x per week for the course of a semester.
Successful Reading Mentors have a passion to make an positive impact, display a genuine interest and care in the kids, and patiently guide our students towards success!

New Horizons provides the most vulnerable members of our community with the opportunity to choose a different course for their lives through the variety of our no-cost programs.
New Horizons of North Texas serves the North Texas area through after school tutoring and mentoring. Our after school programs emphasize our core values of honesty, integrity, and personal responsibility in daily character education lessons.
