EMBARK!
EMBARK!

Is God calling you to embark on a new adventure-one that may change your story forever? Start off your journey with EMBARK, a short-term mission trip with long term impact.

EMBARK provides an overview of the development work that World Renew is doing in community. World Renew development programs will connect you to programs in health, agriculture, food security, leadership development, literacy, education, disaster preparedness, youth and young adult programs.

Get ready for a four week missions adventure in Uganda or Honduras where you'll plan, grow and learn with a community.

We’ll educate you. EMBARK is a comprehensive, discovery-focused program for young people. EMBARK includes devotion-based study guides that will help you prepare personally and spiritually for your time in Uganda or Honduras.

We’ll stretch you. EMBARK includes international and local service components to help you explore God's calling for your life and what it means to live as a Christian in a hurting world, at home and abroad.

Training and Debrifing

The Global Volunteer Program provides pre-trip support and orientation. We use Basecamp to outline the tasks that need to be done before departure. We provide a Volunteer Handbook, Field Guide to Uganda, and materials to help you understand poverty, community development, cultural differences, spiritual preparation and a prayer journal to use during your trip. EMBARK also includes study guides that will be used as part of your pre-trip preparation.

Debriefing includes a written questionnaire, a phone call to discuss your reflections and the creation of an action plan to integrate what you have learned into your day to day life. The Global Volunteer Program staff will walk with you for the next 6 months as in implement your action steps. World Renew will provide support and encouragement as you continue your journey.

Mission Statement

CRWRC's mission is to engage God's people in redeeming resources and developing gifts in collaborative acts of love, mercy, justice, and compassion.

Description

The Christian Reformed World Relief Committee (CRWRC) is the relief and development arm of the Christian Reformed Church. CRWRC reaches out in God's name to people, both in North America and around the world, who are struggling with poverty, hunger, disaster, and injustice to help them find lasting ways to improve their lives.

One aspect of this ministry is community development. In this ministry CRWRC's staff members engage in community transformation in 30 countries around the world. They partner with more than 130 churches and community organizations to train local people to be leaders in their own communities. Together, CRWRC and these partners help people work together to overcome illiteracy, hunger, malnutrition, unemployment, HIV/AIDS, child mortality, injustice, and other issues affecting them.

Another aspect of CRWRC's ministry is disaster response and relief. When disasters strike, CRWRC responds to the urgent needs that arise. In North America, this often includes clearing debris, assessing needs, training local leaders, and repairing and rebuilding damaged homes. Internationally, it includes providing and distributing emergency food, water, shelter, and other supplies. It also often involves reconstruction of homes and livelihoods.

The third aspect of CRWRC's ministry involves working with people in North America and around the world to connect them to ministry, deepen their understanding of global issues, and encourage them to act and advocate on behalf of those in need.

CRWRC does not receive ministry shares and depends on the regular financial support of God’s people.
