A little about us: we're a non-profit that is focused on mental health stigma with a particular (but not exclusive) focus on our veterans. Our mission is to remove the stigma around mental illness to improve access to care and long-term outcomes. We're growing and need help increasing awareness and educating people about mental health as we work to #EndStigma.
We need someone who can generate top-notch content each week that is designed to inform, inspire, and influence. We're aiming for a mix of mental health information (generally), veterans' mental health topics, and apolitical commentary on current events/news/legislation from around the country that relates to mental health and our specific mission. AP style is preferable, but quality writing is the only requirement. We don't have a length requirement, but we have found that our articles thus far have typically run 300-1500 words. Again, quality is far more important than quantity.
And while the articles do not need to be a PhD thesis (at all!), they should be well-researched and properly-cited. Our articles usually take about 1-2 hours to generate (and that includes everything (researching, writing, to editing)) so the time commitment shouldn't be overwhelming.
We absolutely attribute all articles to their respective writer (unless they prefer otherwise) so you can add it to your resume and/or portfolio.
Does this sound like you? Drop us a line and let's team up to help end the stigma around mental illness!

Mission Statement
We exist to educate others that "mental illness" doesn't mean "crazy."
Description
At the Bars Family Foundation, our goal is to make a lasting, positive impact in peoples' lives and our communities. We focus on people living with mental illness, especially our returning veterans, to ensure that they receive much-needed care and are not discriminated against because of the stigma that surrounds mental illness.
We also help drive the changes necessary to ensure that those affected by the stigma of mental illness have access to the resources and care they need while educating the public that "mental illness" doesn't mean "crazy." This we accomplish through organizing and energizing our communities to action through advocacy, service, and fundraising, thus enabling our friends and neighbors to be educated, informative, and impactful.
