Volunteer Drivers Needed For Tuesday Toilet Paper Pick-Ups!

ORGANIZATION: Northwest Harvest

Northwest Harvest is a hunger response network, providing food to more than 375 food banks, meal programs and high need schools throughout Washington State. Last year, we distributed more than 33 million pounds of food throughout this network.

Volunteer Drivers are needed for Tuesday toilet paper pick-ups!

Because of the generosity of some local businesses, we are able to provide toilet paper to our Northwest Harvest clients. Food stamps do not cover personal items such as toilet paper, so this donation is especially meaningful to the people we serve.

NEED: Drivers needed to use their own vehicles to do pick-ups from buildings in downtown Seattle and South Lake Union, and deliver it to our Cherry Street Food Bank on First Hill.

WHEN: Tuesday mornings.

HOW OFTEN: Every other Tuesday or one Tuesday a month, depending on the number of interested volunteers.

WHO: This can be done as an individual, but it’s a great fit for a pair of volunteers!

CARS: Because of the size of the donations, SUV’s, minivans or trucks with canopy tops are ideal.

COMMITMENT: We are asking for a commitment of at least 6 months.

ROUTES: Each every-other-Tuesday route takes about 3-4 hours.

  • Route A (5 locations): 520 Pike St, 1100 Olive Way, 1809 7th Ave, 700 5th Ave, 2021 7th Ave
  • Route B (2 locations): 500 5th Ave, 2021 7th Ave (This second address is on both routes because it gets a weekly pick-up)

MINIMUM AGE: Volunteers must be 18 years or older.

PARKING:
Each building has a convenient loading zone so no parking is required.

REQUIREMENTS: Volunteers must have a current driver’s license and insurance, and must sign a liability waiver. We are unable to reimburse for gas or mileage.

Does this sound like it might be a good fit for you? If so, please respond to this posting for more details, or reach out to Katy Bourne, Cherry Street Volunteer Coordinator, at katyb@northwestharvest.org or 206.923.7456.

Thank you for considering helping us!

Northwest Harvest is able to provide service hours for school or work purposes, but we are unable to provide court-related service.
