All ages welcome 10 AM - 12:30 PM Sat., July 22, as we pull down and dig invasive bindweed on Codornices Creek, our area's only trout stream. Most of the creek has been freed from this blanketing invader, but it keeps trying to take over, and we need to make sure it can't set seed to start new plants!

We'll celebrate success with light snacks and an optional short nature walk. Gloves, tools, and snacks supplied. Bring a re-usable water bottle. Long pants and sleeves and closed-toed shoes with good traction always recommended.

Meet at 8th Street and the creek, west of San Pablo, two blocks north of Gilman, on the University Village border, across from Alliance Graphics, 1101 8th St. (best address for Internet maps). Allow time to find parking! AC Transit 18 and 52stop nearby, and 72 is a short walk.

Info: f5creeks@gmail.com. Groups of five or more please RSVP. Otherwise, just show up.

Mission Statement

Friends of Five Creeks is an all-volunteer organization founded in 1996, working hands-on to protect and restore creeks, watersheds, and nature in Berkeley, Albany, El Cerrito, and south Richmond, on the east shore of San Francisco Bay.

Description

Besides frequent volunteer events, for the general public and for school, religious, business, or other groups, we lead walks, host free Bay Currents talks on nature and environment, publish a monthly e-newsletter on Bay Area environmental news, and advocate for political action on creek and watershed issues.
