Thank you for interest in Richmond Triangle Players! Please contact us to be added to our mailing list for volunteer opportunities. Most of our volunteers participate by ushering for shows (in evenings and Sunday matinees). We do have some requests for other projects from time to time as well. Here's some info about our usher program: - Our ushers see the performance on the date for which they usher for free. - We request our ushers arrive about an hour prior to the scheduled show start (7pm call time for evening shows, 3pm for matinees). - We also request that they dress nicely - business casual - no jeans, graphic tees, or sneakers. - We offer our ushers the opportunity to purchase up to two tickets per show run for which they are ushering at the industry rate (usually half price) once they have ushered for three shows over the current and/or prior season. It's our bring a friend program! (If an usher qualified the prior season, the benefit carries over to the next season as long as they remain an active usher.) - Our active volunteers (those that have ushered or done other work for a recent show) also receive an invite to our annual Volunteer Appreciation Event, where we honor you, the volunteers, and get a chance to say "thank you" in person. This event is generally held in January or February each year. Volunteers that help in other ways (set construction/painting, hanging posters, etc) have the opportunity to earn comp tickets to the shows that they work on. Let me know if you have any questions. Welcome to our volunteer team!

About Richmond Triangle Players

Location:

Mission Statement

Richmond Triangle Players delivers adventurous and entertaining theater as the leading voice in the community’s explorations of equality, identity, affection and family, across sexual orientation and gender spectrums.

Description

Since its inception, Richmond Triangle Players has filled a significant void in our community's cultural life. RTP is the only professional theatre company in the Richmond area - in fact, in the entire Mid-Atlantic region -- which expressly and regularly serves the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

It is hard to imagine that any other theater in Richmond has made a greater positive, transformational change than Richmond Triangle Players has made in the last decade. In 2010, RTP transformed an old radiator shop into a warm and welcoming new venue, after vacating the crumbling building in which its theater had been housed. Since that time, RTP has won acclaim from its growing and diverse audiences, as well as from the Richmond Theatre Critics Circle, with over 90 "Best" nominations, the inaugural People’s Choice Award, and awards for Best Play and Best Musical twice each. And in 2017, the readers of STYLE Weekly named RTP Richmond's Best Local Theater.

Richmond Triangle Players has also maintained a commitment to diversity in programming, by collaborating on new events, in showcasing some of the country’s most celebrated cabaret artists on its stage, and in opening its doors to support and incubate other theaters. The growth in the company’s scale and scope in such a short time is almost staggering. Every year, RTP hosts over 160 events to the delight of almost 10,000 enthusiastic patrons.
