About
Special Olympics North Carolina is seeking a Local Co-Coordinator for the Wake County area. The co-coordinator will assist the local coordinator who is the designated representative of SONC and has the responsibility for successfully implementing Special Olympics activities within his/her assigned geographic area.
Primary Duties of the Co-Coordinator in concert with the Coordinator:
- Management of and regular communication with the local program volunteer committee
- Recruiting and training new local committee members as needed
- Facilitate regular committee and sub-committee meetings and ensure minutes are kept and updates circulated
- Ensure various non-sport aspects of the program are properly managed by the committee (i.e. fundraising, volunteer recruitment, etc.)
- Communicate regularly with the primary coordinator
Experience/KNOWLEDGE:
Prior experience with a nonprofit organization or sports organization preferred. Ability to supervise and effectively delegate to committee members and other volunteers. The ability to communicate openly and in a timely manner. Ability to obtain/maintain a valid NC Driver’s License.
