Beyond School

Beyond School is a year-round expanded learning opportunity for students. It runs throughout the school year, serving K-8th graders embedded at 3 school sites. We focus on:

  • Academic Support

  • Social/Emotional Growth (Mentoring)

  • Community Engagement

  • Enrichment Experiences

Volunteers work with a student or small group of students at least once a week on literacy, math and homework. We ask that you choose a day of the week that you can consistently attend for the academic semester.

Mission: St. Louis seeks to empower people to grow and develop in all aspects of their lives. Empowerment means engaging people as equals, not as dependents of charity. To do this, we enter into dynamic interpersonal relationships based on mutual respect, trust, integrity, grace and compassion. Through empowerment, we are able to work together in achieving personal and community pride based on a regenerated sense of worth.

Development

Mission: St. Louis desires to develop people and communities holistically through economic and spiritual development. Lasting, authentic change only happens from the inside out. This means that we must work to bring about long-term change in both economic and spiritual spheres. We believe this can only come from building trust through authentic relationships.
