Graduate Level Museum Evaluation Internship

Interested in museum programming, evaluation, and artmaking?

Join the Palo Alto Art Center team for an internship dedicated to evaluation of our gallery program. The Evaluation Intern will engage with the general public to facilitate the playful evaluation methods designed to measure the fall exhibition Play! and work with family audiences to garner feedback regarding The Art Cart. Evaluation will take place during regular business hours as well as special events included Friday Night at the Art Center, Play Family Day, and Holiday Family Day.

Designed for college and graduate students, as well as adults interested in re-entering the workforce or exploring a career change, Art Center internships give you the opportunity to enhance professional skills, build your professional network, and serve the community.

In this role, you will...

  • Conduct surveys with visitors and program participants and analyze data
  • Facilitate playful evaluation methods associated with the Play! exhibition and the Art Center’s in-gallery interactive Art Cart
  • Review the general exhibition visitor survey and work with key staff to revise and prototype
  • Assist with evaluation during regular business hours and specific special events
  • Maintain gallery interactives, like the Art Cart and the Nook
  • Attend and assist with any related project meetings
  • Document activities with photographs and written observations

  • Enthusiastic about the art-making processes, contemporary art practices, and art engagement strategies
  • Skilled in time management, prioritization, and organization
  • Flexible, able to self-start, and have a passion for the arts and/or creative endeavors
  • Excellent organizational, written communication, and computer skills
  • Detail-oriented with excellent time management
  • Comfortable interacting with the public
  • Willing to submit to fingerprinting

When you will work...

This position is 10 hours per week with a flexible weekday schedule starting in early September and concluding in late December.
