Second Harvest Food Bank's Brown Bag Program distributes food to low-income seniors at various distribution sites throughout Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.
Volunteers are needed to unload pallets of food with heavy boxes and bags, take the food in the room, help set-up and clean-up the food distribution.
Qualifications:
- Must be 14 years of age or older - volunteers age 14-15 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
- Likes working with seniors
- Be in good physical health
- Be able to lift heavy boxes and bags of food, repeated bending
- Dependable and on time
- Maintain safe working conditions and follow all safety rules
- Professional conduct and responsibility
- Helpful, but not required: speak Chinese, Tagalog, Russian, Vietnamese or Spanish

Second Harvest of Silicon Valley is a private non-profit organization that collects and distributes more than 12 million pounds of food each month. We currently serve an average of over 500,000 individuals each month; 60% are low income families and 20% are seniors. By building collaborative networks, we efficiently distribute food by leveraging donations of money, food and human resources. But we cannot do it alone.
