Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks at the Red River Water Festival on September 22-25 and 28. This event teaches area 4th grade students all about water through hands-on activities. Last year over 2,100 students attended.

Volunteers tasks include: Lead simple activities, assist the activity leader, time the activities, set up, and take down of the event. lunch is provided for all volunteers!

  • Set up and tear down: We need volunteers willing to set up on Sept. 21st from 1-4pm. Tear down is Sept. 28 from 11:30 - 12:30pm
  • Driver: We need a volunteer with a truck that can assist us hauling supplies from our storage shed near downtown Fargo to the Hjemkomst Center for set up and tear down. This would be around Sept. 21st and 28th around noon.
  • Timers on Sept. 22 - 25, 28
    • 8:45am - 11:00am and 12:00 - 2:15pm
  • Activity Leaders and Assistants, Sept. 22 - 25 and 28:
    • Lear or assist interactive fun activities to teach 4th graders about the importance of water (possible topics include water properties, wetlands, fish, history, etc). The audience for the festival is classes of approximately 25 fourth graders from the Buffalo-Red Watershed District and the Southeast Cass Water Resource District
      • Sessions include 8:45 - 11:00 am and 12:00 - 2:15pm

River Keepers is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization advocating safe and sustainable use of the Red River of the North through workshops, youth service-learning projects and advocacy. We work "hand-in hand" with civic, corporate and political leaders, local watershed groups and the public at-large. River Keepers grew from a desire to rediscover the Red River’s heritage, and to teach people to again appreciate the Red as a living River.
