Through volunteers The East Madison Monona Coalition of the Aging (EMMCA) is able to provide a variety of services that help low income seniors. These direct services are an effective way to meet peoples' needs, allowing them to remain as active, involved, and independent in the community as possible.

We have a unique opportunity for a patient and caring volunteer who likes to talk and listen.

A client of ours has suffered a couple strokes and is now scared of being alone. We are looking for a volunteer who would like to visit with her weekly or every other, providing some respite time for her husband.

Providing respite for caregivers is incredibly important. According to survey statistics from the Centers for Disease Control, caregivers often pay a steep price for their "labor of love." For example: 54 percent said their health has gotten worse due to caregiving, which has affected their ability to give care
